Each young person's day-to-day life is unique, shaped by their individual responsibilities and interests. However, there is a common framework that provides structure.

  • Independent wake-up or a wake-up call from staff.

  • Daily self-care routine.

  • Participation in education or employment, or attendance at a daytime keywork session.

  • Returning to the unit from education or work, completing homework tasks with or without staff support.

  • Socializing with other young people and staff members.

  • Engaging in keywork sessions or unit activities. Preparing for the next day ahead.

DAY-TO-DAY
LIFE AT ANACO CARE SERVICES
18+

A typical day in an 18+ semi-independent living home depends on the individual’s goals, whether they’re in education, training, or work. However, the structure is generally flexible, allowing residents to develop independence while still having support when needed. Here’s an example of what a day might look like:

Morning:

  • 7:00 AM – 9:00 AM: Wake up, shower, get dressed, and have breakfast (self-prepared).

  • 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM: If in education or work, leave for college, university, or a job. If unemployed, check job listings, attend a training course, or meet with a key worker for support.

  • 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Life skills development—this could include budgeting sessions, cleaning the living space, attending a cooking class, or a meeting about future housing plans.

Afternoon:

  • 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM: Lunch (self-prepared or with other residents).

  • 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM: Personal time—this could be studying, job applications, attending a support group, or taking part in social activities.

  • 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM: Meeting with key workers (if needed), attending health appointments, or engaging in community activities such as volunteering or sports.

Evening:

  • 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM: Dinner (self-cooked)

  • 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM: Free time—this might include socializing, watching TV, gaming, or going out. Some residents might also have part-time jobs during this time.

  • 8:00 PM – 10:00 PM: Winding down—relaxing, speaking to family or friends, preparing for the next day.

Late Night:

  • 10:00 PM – 11:00 PM: Personal time before bed (reading, listening to music, etc.).

  • 11:00 PM – 12:00 AM: Sleep, although this depends on the individual’s schedule.

Additional Support & Responsibilities:

  • Residents are expected to do their own cleaning, laundry, and shopping.

  • Support workers may check in with residents regularly, but are more focused on independent

There will always be someone that you can talk to about anything; big, small or indifferent.
